After you dilate a figure , The figure gets bigger or smaller.

Dilation in mathematics is a process of changing the size of an object or a shape without changing its shape.

When you dilate any figure distance between the points changes.

Either the image gets enlarge or shrinks depends on the scale factor.

Things that don't changes are:

 • Each angle of the figure is the same
 • Midpoints of the sides of the figure remain the same as the midpoint of the dilated shape
 • Parallel and perpendicular lines in the figure remain the same as the parallel and perpendicular lines of the dilated figure
 • The images remain the same

Only the size of an image changes not it's shape.

Tickets for wisconsin state fair cost $13 for adults and $7 for children. After the first day, the wisconsin state fair sold 900
sergiy2304 [10]
First, let's define your variables!

x=cost of tickets for adults
y=cost of tickets for kids...

You know that they sold 900 tickets, which means the combination of x and y equals 900.
Therefore one equation is...
x+y=900
We also have to take care of the second equation...
We know that 13x represents the total cost of ADULT tickets
We know 7y represents the total cost for the children...
Which means...
13x+7y=11000
There are you equations! (bolded)

Your parents will retire in 20 years. They currently have $300,000 saved, and they think they will need $1,450,000 at retirement
Tanya [424]
N=20 periods (years)
present value, P = 300,000
future value, F= 1450000
i=annual interest rate

F=P(1+i)^n
1450000=300000(1+i)^{20}
(1+i)^{20}=1450000/300000
(1+i)^{20}=29/6
(1+i)=(29/6)^{1/20}
i=(29/6)^{1/20}-1
i=(29/6)^{1/20}-1
=1.081963-1
=0.081963
=8.1963%

Answer: they need to earn 8.1963% or more to achieve their goal.

Solve the system

-0.18x + y = -6.54
-2.8x - y = -2.4
bogdanovich [222]
ADDING THE 2 EQUATIONS TO ELIMINATE Y WE HAVE

-2.98x = -8.94
x = 3

Plug x=3 into first equation:-
-0.18(3) + y = -6.54
y = -6.54 +0.54 = -6

answer x= 3 and y= -6.
