Answer:

x = 28

y = 21

The perimeter is of 224 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Finding x:

We look at the top, and the bottom of the figure.

The top measures 42 cm.

The bottom measures x.

Looking on the base of y, we can see that the top can be divided into a part which is x(same as the bottom), and another of 14, measuring 42. So

x + 14 = 42

x = 42 - 14

x = 28

Finding y:

Now we apply the same logic to find y.

We look at the left side, and the right side.

They should be equal.

The right side measures 70.

The left measures 49 + y. So

49 + y = 70

y = 70 - 49

y = 21.

Finding the perimeter:

It is the sum of all edges.

P = 42 + 70 + x + 49 + 14 + y

Since x = 28, y = 21

P = 42 + 70 + 28 + 49 + 14 + 21

P = 224

The perimeter is of 224 cm.

Answer:

x = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Represent the number with x.

So:

2 + x + x + x + x + x + x  + x + x + x + x = 2

or

2 + 10x = 2

We want to solve for x

Subtract both sides by 2

2 - 2 + 10x = 2 - 2

10x = 0

Solve for x

x = \frac{0}{10}

x = 0

No other number aside 0, satisfy the property.

Determine which numbers the equations can be multiplied by to create opposite terms of the x-variable. 1 2 x − 1 4 y = −3 − 1 3
Julli [10]

In the elimination method one variable is eliminated from the system of equation to find the value of other.

To create the opposite terms of the <em>x</em><em>-</em>variable-

  • First equation be multiplied by the number 12.
  • Second equation be multiplied by the number 13.

<h3>What is elimination method?</h3>

To solve the system of equation and find the value of the variables, the elimination method is used.

In this method one variable is eliminated from the system of equation to find the value of other.

Given information-

The system of equation given in the problem is,

12x-14y=-3         ......1

Let the above equation as equation 1.

The second equation given in the problem is,

-13x+23y=5             ......2

Let the above equation as equation 2.

To eliminate the <em>x</em> term, make the coefficient of <em>x</em> of both the equation equal.

It can be done by multiply the coefficient of <em>x</em> term of first equation to second equation and coefficient of <em>x </em>term of second equation to first equation.

As the coefficient of <em>x</em> of the equation 1 is 12.  Thus multiply second equation with 12. Thus,

12\times(-13x+23y)=12\times5

-156x+276y=60                     ........3

Multiply  equation 1 with -13 to make the coefficient of <em>x</em> opposite. Thus,

13\times(12x-14y)=13\times(-3)\\156x-182y=-39         .......4

Hence, to create the opposite terms of the <em>x</em><em>-</em>variable-

  • First equation be multiplied by the number 12.
  • Second equation be multiplied by the number 13.

The gradient of the given graph is 1.5

<h3>Calculating Gradient </h3>

From the question, we are to determine the gradient of the graph

Gradient is given by the formula

m = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1} }

Where m is the gradient

Picking the points (-2, -2) and (2, 4) on the line

Then,

x₁ = -2

y₁ = -2

x₂ = 2

y₂ = 4

Putting the parameters into the equation, we get

m = \frac{4--2}{2--2}

m = \frac{4+2}{2+2}

m = \frac{6}{4}

m = 1.5

Hence, the gradient of the given graph is 1.5
