In order to make 441 liters of Petrolyn oil, we need 189 liters of synthetic oil.

Given, for every 3 liters of synthetic oil, we use 4 liters of natural oil.

⇒ For 1 liter of synthetic oil, we will be adding 4/3 liters of natural oil.

Let 'x' be the liters of oil needed to make 441 liters of Petrolyn oil

⇒ For 'x' liters of synthetic oil, we will need 4x/3 liters of natural oil

Total Volume = 441 liters

Volume of Synthetic oil + Volume of natural oil = 441

x + 4x/3 = 441

⇒ (3x + 4x)/3 = 441

⇒ 7x/3 = 441

⇒ x = (441×3)/7

⇒ x = 189 liters

Express answer in exact form. Find the area of the larger segment whose chord is 8" long in a circle with an 8" radius. (Hint: A
Advocard [28]

Answer:

  ((160/3)π + 16√3) in²

Step-by-step explanation:

Together with the radii of 8 inches, the 8-inch chord creates an equilateral triangle with a central angle of 60°, or π/3 radians.

In problem 1, you found the area of the smaller segment to be ...

  A = (1/2)r²·(θ -sin(θ))

For θ = π/3 and r = 8 in, this is (1/2)(8 in)²(π/3 -(√3)/2) = ((32/3)π -16√3) in².

The remaining segment of the circle is the area of the circle less this amount, so is ...

  π·(8 in)² -(32/3π -16√3) in² = (160/3π +16√3) in² . . . . larger segment area

Answer:

The surface area of the net shown is: 88 in^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Break up the different shapes in the net:

Let's take the big square first:

It has a side of 5in and a base of 4in.

We multiply both these values to get 20in^2

Lets look at the small rectangular box now:

It has a side of 3in and a base of 4in.

We multiply both these values to get 12in^2

There are two big squares so we add up their surface areas:

20in^2 + 20in^2 = 40in^2

There are 4 small rectangular squares so we add up their surface areas:

12in^2 + 12in^2 + 12in^2 + 12in^2 = 48in^2

Now we add up the big square and small rectangular squares values:

40in^2 + 48in^2 = 88in^2

Therefore the answer is 88in^2
