Confusing I tried 4x-7+31=4x+2 But it won’t work Can someone explain??

4x−7+31=4x+2

4x−7+31=4x+2

4x+−7+31=4x+2

(4x)+(−7+31)=4x+2(Combine Like Terms)

4x+24=4x+2
