I believe that the New Mexico territory has developed well due to the contributions of its early civilizations. Native American Indians were a key part of the kind of state that is New Mexico today.

Why Native American people were important for the development of New Mexico?

We can say that the state of New Mexico possesses a rich history that begins a long time ago. Historians consider that the first people who arrived at this territory did so approximately 10,000 years ago. They were what we call Native American people.

Early people were farmers like the Anasazi and the Mogollon.

In ancient American times, the Mogollon were early people that lived in the region of the Mogollon Mountains, modern Catron County, New Mexico.

The Anasazi were native American Indians who lived in the region known as the "Four Corners" of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Both people grew crops to make a living.

Let’s have in mind that Spanish conquerors did not arrive until the middle of the 1500s. Many years later, in the middle of the 1800s, white settlers, with the help of the United States government took the lands from the native people.

We can conclude that the early people or Native American people were very important to the development of the state of New Mexico, although some experts consider that it is a rural state.
