Angered by the effect of the British naval blockade on cotton prices and British support for Indian attacks against white frontier settlers, farmers in the South and West strongly supported the War of 1812. The war ended two years later with few issues settled between the two nations. The most significant battle took place after the peace treaty was signed in 1814, when General Andrew Jackson, a Tennessee slaveholder, decisively defeated the British forces at New Orleans. This resounding victory made him a national hero and symbol of frontier fighters and earned him the nickname “Old Hickory.” Although he secured victory using regular troops armed with artillery power, ten years later Samuel Woodward celebrated the role of sharpshooters armed with Kentucky long rifles in his song “The Hunters of Kentucky.” This immensely popular song, filled with images of Old Hickory and his men overwhelming the well-trained army of John Bull (a symbol of Britain), became an effective element in Jackson’s successful 1828 campaign for president.

The effect of landforms on typhoons is to weaken it while warm water bodies such as oceans strengthen typhoons.

Typhoons

A typhoon is a tropical cyclone or hurricane that occurs in the western Pacific area and the China seas.

How landforms and water bodies affect typhoons

Landforms and bodies of water have different effects on typhoons.

Landforms will weaken typhoons by making them lose energy and momentum. Similarly cold water bodies weaken typhoons.

Warm waterbodies such as oceans will strengthen a typhoon by typically making it gain energy and momentum.

The correct processes of how landforms and bodies of water affect typhoon are given below:

 1. Warm, humid air travels into the land
 2. Formation of clouds and rain
 3. Air cools as it continues to rises
 4. Humidity condenses into heavy rain
 5. Warm water from the surface of the ocean evaporates, making humid air in the atmosphere
 6. Humid air is rising making the clouds of the storm
 7. Winds flow outward above the storm allowing the air below to rise.
 8. Wind coming together forcing air upward
 9. Light winds outside typhoon steer it and let it grow.

Therefore, the effect of landforms on typhoons is to weaken it while warm water bodies such as oceans strengthen typhoons.

Why was the Battle of Trenton important to the American Revolutionary cause?
Dmitriy789 [7]
The Battle of Trenton was immensely important to the American Revolutionary cause because this was the war that showed the Americans could defeat the British and so it also helped in raising the morale of the revolutionaries. the Americans were very low on morale as they had been inflicted heavy defeats by the British army on several occasions before the Battle of Trenton. This battle gave the fledgling morale the boost to again rise up and fight the British army. It was a success that went a long way in getting the Americans their desired freedom from the British rule.
