By evaluating both expressions through BODMAS, it is concluded that

3*(2+6)  \neq (3*2) + 6

Hence, Bri is not right.

BODMAS - It is a type of rule that is used in Mathematics for evaluating operations. There are different types of operations like Subtraction, additions, multiplications, and divisions. When all these operations are present in an expression, it can be difficult to evaluate them. So here BODMAS comes into play and states that we should solve in the order: Brackets, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.

The given expressions are 3*(2+6) and (3*2) + 6

So, we have:

3*(2+6) = 3*2 +3*6 = 6 + 18 = 24

And (3*2) + 6 = 6 + 6 = 12

3*(2+6)  \neq (3*2) + 6

An earthquake causes a 3 kg book to fall from a shelf. If the book lands with a speed of 4.0 m/s, from what height did it fall?
r-ruslan [8.4K]
Given:
3kg book
speed of falling of 4.0 m/s
acceleration due to gravity -9.8 m/s²

Vf² = Vi² + 2 * a * d

Vf = final velocity ; Vi = initial velocity ; a = acceleration ; d = distance

0² = (4 m/s)² + 2(-9.8m/s²) * d
0 = 16 m²/s² -19.6 m/s² * d
-16 m²/s² = -19.6 m/s² * d
-16 m²/s²  / -19.6 m/s² = d
 0.82 m = distance

The 3 kg book fell from the a shelf at the height of 0.82 meters.

Use the Quadratic Formula
dem82 [27]

Answer:

1/2 and 3

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic formula is as given:

 (  -b±√(b^2-4ac)  )/2a

To use it, plug in the a,b and c values.

ax^2+bx+c

In this case a is equal to 2, b is equal to -7, and c is equal to 3

plugging it into our formula gives us:

(-(-7)±√(-7^2-4*2*3)  )/2*2

Which is equal to:

7±√(49-24) / 4

= 7±√25 / 4

=7±5 / 4

=2/4, 12/4= 1/2, 3
