At the beginning of the play, Ophelia is dutiful and well mannered; she does exactly what her own family tells her to do. Then, Hamlet's erratic behavior and Polonius's death reason Ophelia to move mad. She becomes burdened and starts offevolved behaving unusually.

The individual Ophelia changes appreciably during the play from an obedient lover to an insane woman that in the end drowns herself. Ophelia's transformation is one this is resulting from uncertainty and a love for a person who pretends to not love her back.
