What point do you think the author was trying to make by writing the following in lines 13 - 15: “When General Washington told C

ongress, “the soldiers eat every kind of horse fodder but hay” he might have gone a little farther and told them that they eat considerable hog’s fodder”?

The author is trying to establish the point that the food provided to the soldiers was of poor quality and in little quantity.

How can we identify this?

 • The author shows how the food provided to the soldiers was compared to fodder, that is, food inappropriate for humans.
 • The author shows how this food could be compared with the feeding of pigs, which highlights the poor quality of the food.
 • The author reinforces how inappropriate food was consumed anyway, as it was all the soldiers had.

In the text, the author wants to draw attention to how the soldiers were neglected and fed in a precarious, unhealthy, and insufficient way, not being possible to compare it with food for humans.

This kind of food left the soldiers hungry and weak, preventing them from being able to fulfill their responsibilities as required.

In this case, the author satirizes food, trying to call attention to a change and showing the dissatisfaction of those who need to eat this way.

Which of these was NOT a requirement for citizenship in Athens?
atroni [7]

Answer:

C) female

Explanation:

Athens is considered to be the cradle of democracy in the world, but in practice it was not as most people would imagine. A good example is what were the requirements for gaining a citizenship of this ancient Greek city-state. In order to get a citizenship the person had to have full 18 years of age. It had to be a free male, as if it was slave in question than citizenship was impossible to be granted. Also, the free male, that had 18 years of age, had to be born in Athens, otherwise he was not going to be considered as Athenian, so citizenship was not going to be granted. The citizenship was granted by a council of elders, and it was usually the closest male in the family that was leading the ceremony for granting a citizenship. The females was discriminated against in every level, and they were not even included in the requirements for citizenship, as if they didn't existed. Also, the role of the women in Athens was to be home, take care of the household, and raise the children, nothing more than that.

How did american women win the fight for suffrage?
vesna_86 [32]
Some held them down while the others did the rest. Haha just kidding, here is a long explained answer.

Women in the United States fought a long battle to gain equal voting rights. In the early 1900's, a few western states granted women the right to vote, but many states still remained unmoved. Activists pick up steam as they campaigned all over the country, giving special attention to the states and groups that were the most resistant to women's suffrage. They also aimed at gaining publicity by picketing the White House. Throughout World War I, women made a significant contribution to the war efforts on the home front. They proved their dedication and loyalty to the country. The 19th amendment was ratified on August 26, 1920.
