Hydration number is 9

Given:

molar mass of na2so4•nh2o = 304.04 g/mol

To Find:

hydration number 'n'

Solution: hydration number is the number of molecules of water with which an ion can combine in an aqueous solution of given concentration.

Atomic mass of Na = 23g

S = 32g

0 = 16g

H = 1g

Molar mass of the compound is evaluated as:

2(23) +32 + 4(16) + n[2(1) +16] = 304.04

46 +32 +64 +18n = 304.04

142 +18n = 304.04

18n = 304.04 - 142

18n = 162.04

n = 9

So, hydration number is 9

1. This is a general physical law derived from empirical observations by what Isaac Newton called inductive reasoning.
2. Kepler's second law of planetary motion describes the speed of a planet traveling in an elliptical orbit around the sun. It states that a line between the sun and the planet sweeps equal areas in equal times. Thus, the speed of the planet increases as it nears the sun and decreases as it recedes from the sun.
3.According to this law the expression P2a−3 has the same value for all the planets in the solar system. Here P is the time taken for a planet to complete an orbit round the sun, and a is the mean value between the maximum and minimum distances between the planet and sun
4. When a planet or moon travels once around an object this is considered a revolution.
5. The lunar phase or phase of the moon is the shape of the illuminated (sunlit) portion of the Moon as seen by an observer on Earth. The lunar phases change cyclically as the Moon orbits the Earth, according to the changing positions of the Moon and Sun relative to the Earth.
