The initial population was 80

Solution ;

The bacteria culture has a constant growth rate.

So, N(t) = No*(1 + r)^t

Solution :

400 = No*(1 + r)^2

50000 = No*(1 + r)^8

(1 + r)^6 = 125

=> 1 + r = 2.2360

No = 400÷(1 + r)^2 = 80

Hence, now we can conclude that the initial number of the bacterial culture was 80.

The cell membrane of a retinal photoreceptor contains sodium channels that at rest (in the dark) are normally ________ and have
laiz [17]

Answer:

open; depolarized

Explanation:

The photoreceptors, i.e., rods and cones, are specialized neurons located in the retina. These cells convert sunlight into electrochemical signals which are interpreted by the central nervous system. The cGMP-gated channels that are expressed in photoreceptor plasma membranes have a major role in this process by regulating the flow of sodium (Na+) and calcium (Ca2+) ions in the outer side of the membrane via changes to cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels which are induced by light. In the dark, high cGMP levels maintain channels in an open state, thereby allowing the passage of Na+ and Ca2+ ions to flow into the outer segment of photoreceptors in order to maintain them in a depolarized state.

Researchers use the denaturation temperatures of hybrid double helices to compare evolutionary relatedness. Complementary strand
WITCHER [35]

Answer:

The strands of the hybrid helix are less complementary than the original helix.

Explanation:

Complementary DNA strands are bonded to each other through hydrogen bonding. The nitrogenous base adenine (A) forms 2 hydrogen bonds with thymine (T). Guanine forms 3 hydrogen bonds with cytosine. Due to the presence of 3 hydrogen bonds, GC rich regions of DNA or RNA are more strongly bonded.

Therefore, if the two strands will be less complementary or contain more AT rich regions, the double helix will denature or melt at a lower temperature.
