2. You are evaluating the effect of different types of fertilizers on plant growth. You plant 12 tomato plants and divide them i

nto three groups, where each group contains four plants. To the first group, you do not add fertilizer and the plants are watered with plain water. The second and third groups are watered with two different concentrations of the same type of fertilizer. After three weeks, you check the growth by measuring the heights of each plant in centimeters and calculate the average growth for each concentration of fertilizer. The collected data was then presented in the table below. Table 1: The effect of different concentration of fertilizer on tomato plant growth over three weeks Treatment No treatment 50 M 100 M Plant Number 1 10 15 22 2 12 16 25 3 8 14 21 4 9 12 27 Average 9.75 14.25 23.75 1. Study the table and detect some errors. (03) 2. Provide the calculation which resulted to the average of the heights of the plants treated with pure water. (04) 3. Consider the averages of heights of plants to plot a complete labelled graph using Microsoft excel. (06)

The average is used to provide a central value that represents different values to make an analysis or a comparation. The attached image shows a plot comparing the averages of plants growth.

What is an average?

In simple words, the average is the addition of a group of values divided by n, which is the total number of values considered. It is also known as media.

It is used to provide a single central value that represents several different values.

Group of values: X₁, X₂, X₃, X₄, X₅

n = 5

Average = (X₁ + X₂ + X₃ + X₄ + X₅) / 5

In the exposed example,

1) In the attached files you will find the image of the table.

According to this image, there is no errors. You should compare this table with yours and analyze if there is any difference.

2) Average of the heights of the plants treated with pure water

Group of values: 10, 12, 8, 9

n = 4

Average = (10 + 12 + 8 + 9) / 4 = 39/4 = 9.75

3) You will find the graph in the attached files.

In these graphs you will find

 • a combined graph in which it is detailed the growth of each plant together with the average growth per treatment.

 • another bar graph only representing the averages of heights of plants.

Why is it important that cell growth in a multi- cellular organism be regulated so carefully?
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

It is important that cell growth in a multi-cellular organism be regulated carefully so as to maintain the integrity of the cell cycle

Explanation: Each cell in a multi-cellular organism has it cycle which consist of the inter-phase and the m-phase (active division). Cell growth takes place in the G1 phase of the inter-phase and this ensures that deoxy ribonucleic acid is synthesized in the S-phase in preparation for division.

Hence, adequate cell volume is a key event in order for division to take place. If cell growth is not regulated, it might result in a cell exiting the cell cycle into the resting phase in case of slow growth or result in over-division of a cell in case of over-stimulated growth. The latter is often the case in the development of cancerous cells.

The dental formula for fetal pig is? and explain what does mean?
asambeis [7]

Temporary teeth

I - 3/3 C - 1/1 P - 4/4 M - 0/0 = 16 x 2 = 32

Permanent teeth

I - 3/3 C - 1/1 P - 4/4 M - 3/3 = 22 x 2 = 44

where I = incisors, C = canines, P = premolars and M = molars

Dental formula can be defined as the number of teeth on one side of the upper jaw over the number the same type of the number of teeth at the lower jaw. Thus, the formula is for one side of the mouth and the total number of teeth is the total in the formula multiply by 2.
