Vaccination also called immunization is the administration of antigenic material called a vaccine to produce active artificial immunity against a disease. Vaccination protects humans from infections of many diseases. Examples include tuberculosis poliomyelitis, whooping cough, diphtheria and measles.
Active artificial immunity is where antibodies are formed in response to administration of dead or weakened( attenuated) pathogens or chemically treated toxoids.
