Answer:

x=6/7, y=-228/35

Explanation:

-4x+5y = -36 /*3

15x-3y = 32  /*5

------------------------- here we multiply both equations to get common y

-12x+15y = -108

75x-15y = 160

------------------------- then we add these two equations to eliminate the y

-12x+75x+15y-15y = 54

63x = 54

------------------------- then we get the x

x = 54/63

x = 6/7 (after we divide both with 9)

------------------------ next up, we add the value of x in first equation

-4 * 6/7 + 5y = -36

-24/7 + 5y = -36

------------------------ we leave 5y on the left side

5y = -36 + 24/7

5y = -252/7 + 24/7

-------------------------- common divider is 7 so we multiply 36*7=252

5y = -228/7

y= -228/7/5/1

------------------------- now we leave only y on the left side

y = -228*1/7*5

y = -228/35

------------------------- when dividing the fragment we multiply outer and inner

Sandra is riding a bicycle at 10.0 meters/second. She slows down to 2.0 meters/second in 10 seconds. Her acceleration is __
Gennadij [26K]

Answer:  Her acceleration is -0.8 m/s²

Explanation:

The initial velocity of Sandra ( u) = 10 m/s

The final velocity of Sandra ( v) = 2 m/s

Time taken by Sandra (t) = 10 s

Let the acceleration of Sandra be 'a'

Using the equation of kinematics, we have

                                                        v = u + at

                                                   ⇒  2 = 10 + 10a

                                                   ⇒  -8 = 10a

                                                   ⇒ a = \frac{-8}{10}m/s^2

                                                   ⇒ a = -0.8 m/s²

Hence, her acceleration is -0.8 m/s².
