Explanation:

Before the 19th century in England, the air was very clean due to low industries in England due to which population of light colored peppered moth increases because they are unable to see by the birds while dark colored peppered moth decrease in number and eaten by the birds because they are easier to see. But after 19th century, when industrial revolution occurs, the color of plants changes due to the presence of black powder on the surface of leaves due to smoke of industries. Due to this, dark colored peppered moth are unable to see by the birds and they increase in number while light peppered moth decrease in population due to easier seen by the birds. Nature selects those species which have more fitness and survival abilities. After 19th century, dark colored peppered moth increase in population due to high fitness and able to hide from birds.
