There are 61 blue marbles

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "b" be the number of blue marbles

Let "r" be the number of red marbles

Given that bag contains blue marbles and red marbles, 75 in total

number of blue marbles + number of red marbles = 75

b + r = 75 -------- eqn 1

The number of blue marbles is 5 more than 4 times the number of red marbles

number of blue marbles = 5 + 4(number of red marbles)

b = 5 + 4r ------- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

Substitute eqn 2 in eqn 1

5 + 4r + r = 75

5 + 5r = 75

5r = 75 - 5

5r = 70

r = 14

From eqn 2,

b = 5 + 4(14) = 5 + 56 = 61

b = 61

Thus there are 61 blue marbles

Mariulka [41]

Answer:

11.2 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

We can create a triangle from the information given.

<u>We can call the starting point (0,0) in the coordinate system.</u>

  • <u>10 mi east</u> - 10 miles to the right. then,
  • <u>5 mi north</u> - 5 miles above

<em><u>See the attached picture. The direct distance is labeled as x.</u></em>

Now we need to find x using pythagorean theorem.

Pythagorean Theorem = leg²+leg²=hypotenuse²

Solving for x:

10^2+5^2=x^2\\100+25=x^2\\125=x^2\\x=\sqrt{125}\\x=11.18

<em>Rounding to nearest tenth, we have </em><em>11.2 miles</em>

Please help me and if I can I’ll help you but please I don’t get it!!
kobusy [5.1K]

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem, let's set up our equation to solve for x (time to travel 13 miles).

\frac{65}{1} =\frac{13}{x}

We use this equation to find x. To solve, we divide 13 by 65 to get our answer.

13 ÷ 65 = 0.2

Our answer: 0.2 hours
