If he buys x pens and y pencils

 3x + y = 10
x ≤ y

You draw the line 3x + y = 10 .<span>(it passes by (0,10) and (-10/3,0)

</span>
<span>You Draw the line y=x [it passes by (0,0), (1,1), (2,2)]

 </span>
<span>Solution: is the points with integer x and y, that belong to the segment of the line 3x +y = 10 between the x-axis and the line y=x. Those points are (1,7) , (2,4), (3, 1).
</span>
 Hope this helps ^-^

Hello!

We 1st off, know that number of pencils = x

and that the number of pens = y

So now the Solving!:

3x + y = 10
x ≤ y

Draw the line 3x + y = 10 .[it passes by (0,10) and (-10/3,0)

Draw the line y=x [it passes by (0,0), (1,1), (2,2) etc]

Then the solution is the points with integer x and y, that belong to the segment of the line 3x +y = 10 between the x-axis and the line y=x. Those points are (1,7) , (2,4), (3, 1).

miss Akunina [59]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

The number of kilograms a 19 m beam can support is:

                               378.9474 kg

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

It is given that:

The weight W that a horizontal beam can support varies inversely as the length L of the beam.

Let k denote the constant.

This means that the weight W and Length L is related as:

                 W=\dfrac{k}{L}

Suppose that an 8 dash m beam can support 900 kg.

This means that L=8 and W=900

Then,

900=\dfrac{k}{8}\\\\i.e.\\\\k=900\times 8\\\\i.e.\\\\k=7200

Now , we are asked to find the value of W when L= 19

i.e.

W=\dfrac{7200}{19}\\\\i.e.\\\\W=378.9474\ kg
