How would you summarize/describe the experience of immigration? What effect does the process of immigration have on immigrants?
Alexxx [7]

The experience and the effects of immigration can be summarised as below:

Experience:

 • Once the immigrants have immigrated to a new place, it takes time for them to be accepted socially by the original residents of the new place. This process of gaining social acceptance, is often lengthy and mentally disturbing.
 • The culture of the new place does not always suit the immigrants, which makes the latter part of the process of immigration a painful experience.

Effects:

 • The major effect of the process of immigration can be seen on the physical stability of the immigrants. As the atmosphere/weather of the new place is often not easily adaptable, it affects the health of the immigrants.
 • The discrimination that the immigrants have to face before they are socially accepted affects the mentality of the immigrants in a negative manner.

lakkis [162]

In his book "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism", the sociologist Max Weber suggests that there is a connection between the economic system of capitalism and the Protestant religion. He argues that the Calvinists played an important role in creating the capitalistic spirit and pointed out the correlation between being a Protestant and being involved in business of some kind to explain capitalism. According to him, seeking and pursuing profit and material success was seen as virtuous as a sign of God's favor. This attitude and way of thinking broke down the traditional economic system and made a way for the capitalism that we know today.
