The main building was burned by the British in 1814 during the War of 1812. Afterward, when the building was being restored, the smoke-stained gray stone walls were painted white. The name “White House,” however, was not used officially until President Theodore Roosevelt had it engraved on his stationery in 1901

The policy of cash and carry, the destroyers for naval bases deal, and the lend-lease act were all designed to
Dima020 [189]
All of the aforementioned were designed to help the Allied powers during World War II. Even though the US wanted to stay "neutral" when World War II broke out, they did want to benefit by maintaining economic relationships with these countries.

The Lend-Lease Act is a perfect example. This allowed the US government to lend weapons and other materials to nations like France, Great Britain, and China during World War II. If the goods weapons/materials were destroyed, it was on the country using them to replace it.

The Cash and Carry policy was another example of the US government helping the Allied powers. This policy stated that countries may buy materials from the US, as long as they pay in cash and provide transportation for the materials at their own risk.

Both of these show that even though the US was not technically in the war yet, they heavily favored the Allied powers.

Why did african american and other minority men find postwar discrimination especially upsetting?
Rainbow [258]

In the postwar period, the situation was not changed dramatically when it came to racial discrimination int he United States. There were still many people that didn't wanted to have anything with the people of other racial groups, and did not saw them as equal to them. This was very upsetting for the people of other racial groups, such as the African Americans, Native Americans, the people of Asian ancestry, especially because they risked their lives for the country and for the people living in it during the war. They could not understand who is it possible that they put their lives on the front in order to protect the others, just to be discriminated again when they came back home by those same people that they were fighting for.

Is when lines and geometric shapes are put together to form a plece of art.
sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

Shape builds on line and color, as it has to be made of one or both of these. Shape is the property of a two-dimensional form, usually defined by a line around it or by a change in color.

There are two main types of shapes, geometric and organic. While most works of art contain both geometric and organic shapes, looking at those that are more completely divided can serve to clarify these qualities.
