Nestled at the edge of the arid Great Basin and the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains in California, Mono Lake is an ancient saline lake that covers over 70 square miles and supports a unique and productive ecosystem. The lake has no fish; instead it is home to trillions of brine shrimp and alkali flies. Freshwater streams feed Mono Lake, supporting lush riparian forests of cottonwood and willow along their banks. Along the lakeshore, scenic limestone formations known as tufa towers rise from the water's surface. Millions of migratory birds visit the lake each year.

From 1941 until 1990, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) diverted excessive amounts of water from Mono Basin streams. Mono Lake dropped 45 vertical feet, lost half its volume, and doubled in salinity.

The Mono Lake Committee, founded in 1978, led the fight to save the lake with cooperative solutions. We continue our protection, restoration, and education efforts today with the support of 16,000 members --and we host this Website.

In 1994, after over a decade of litigation, the California State Water Resources Control Board ordered DWP to allow Mono Lake to rise to a healthy level of 6,392 feet above sea level--twenty feet above its historic low. It is rising toward that goal -- click here for the current lake level, or visit one of the other links on this page for more of the Mono Lake story.

A total solar eclispe cannot be experience from every part of the earth at the same time.Give reason.
PtichkaEL [24]

Explanation:

Eclipse occurs when the shadow of planetary body is cast on another body. This makes part of the planetary body where the shadow is cast to experience darkness.

  • Solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes between the sun and the earth.
  • This causes the shadow of the moon to be cast on the earth.
  • Since the moon is smaller than the earth and the earth is spherical in shape, some part of the earth will experience the eclipse.
  • Other parts facing the sun will have daylight normally.
  • Not all parts of the earth faces the sun at all times due to the shape and rotation of the earth on its axis. Only the part facing the sun and where the moon shadow falls will experience the eclipse.
  • The moon is also smaller than the earth and the sun and so its shadow cannot cover the whole earth. It cannot perfectly obstruct light from falling on earth.

The scale for humidity has a minimum value of 40%. However, if you could change the humidity to zero and set a 70°F difference b
Debora [2.8K]
Relative humidity<span> (</span>RH<span>) is the ratio of the </span>partial pressure<span> of water vapor to the </span>equilibrium vapor pressure<span> of water at a given temperature. Relative humidity depends on temperature and the pressure of the system of interest. It requires less water vapor to attain high relative humidity at low temperatures; more water vapor is required to attain high relative humidity in warm or hot air.</span>
