A) 0.136 - 0.158 m

B) Microwaves

Explanation:

A)

For an ectromagnetic wave, there is a relationship between its frequency and its wavelength, contained in the wave equation:

\lambda=\frac{c}{f}

where

\lambda is the wavelength of the wave

c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s  is the speed of light in a vacuum

f is the frequency of the wave

For the waves in this problem, we have:

f_1=1.9\cdot 10^9 Hz is the minimum frequency

f_2=2.2\cdot 10^9 Hz is the maximum frequency

Therefore, the range of corresponding wavelengths is:

\lambda_1=\frac{3\cdot 10^8}{1.9\cdot 10^9}=0.158 m

\lambda_2=\frac{3\cdot 10^8}{2.2\cdot 10^9}=0.136 m

B)

Electromagnetic waves are oscillations of the electric and the magnetic field occurring in a plane perpendicular to the direction of motion the wave.

All electromagnetic waves travel in a vacuum always at the same speed, the speed of light (c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s ).

Electromagnetic waves are classified into 7 different types, according to their wavelength and frequency. From the longest to the shortest wavelength, we have:

Radio waves (>1 m)

Microwaves (1 mm - 1 m)

Infrared (750 nm - 1 mm)

Visible light (380 nm - 750 nm)

Ultraviolet (10 nm - 380 nm)

X-rays (0.01 nm - 10 nm)

Gamma rays (<0.01 nm)

Therefore, we see that the waves in this problem (of wavelength between 0.136 and 0.158 m) are classified as microwaves.

Gbenga needs to get glasses to correct his farsightedness. His eyes currently cannot focus on objects that are within 2 ft (or 6
Scilla [17]

Answer:

Focal Length = 38.61cm, Power = 2.59 Diopter, Converging lens.

Explanation:

When an object is placed 25cm from Gbenga's eye, the glasses lens must produce an image 61cm away (Gbenga's eye near point).

An image 61cm from the eye will be (61cm - 1.6cm) from the glasses.

i.e. d_{i}=61cm-1.6cm=59.4cm

and d_{o} = 25cm - 1.6cm = 23.4cm

note d_{i} will be negative because the image is formed on the same side as the object.

finally, d_{i}=-59.4cm\\d_{o}=23.4cm

the formula for finding the focal length f is given as

f=\frac{d_{i}d_{o}  }{d_{o}+d_{i}  }

f=\frac{-59.4*23.4}{23.4-59.4} \\

f=\frac{-1389.96}{-36}

f=38.61cm

The focal length is positive which indicates converging lens

power p=\frac{1}{f}

but f\\ must be in metres

Therefore, f=38.61cm=0.3861m

p=\frac{1}{0.3861}

p=2.59 Diopter

What is the difference between an ideal machine and a practical machine
Alik [6]

Answer:

Ideal machines are said to have parts which are weightless , frictionless and strings if any are inextensible. Practical machines have parts which have weights, friction and it causes some loss of work done.

If the earth were twice the distance from the sun that it is now, the gravitational force exerted on it by the sun would be: a)
devlian [24]

Answer:

a) 1/4 what it is now

Explanation:

As we know that force of gravitation between two planets at some distance "r" from each other is given as

F_g = \frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}

now since we know that if the distance between Earth and Sun is changed

So the force of gravity will be given as

\frac{F_g'}{F_g} = \frac{r_1^2}{r_2^2}

now we know that the distance between sun and earth is changed to twice the initial distance between them

so we have

r_2 = 2r_1

so new gravitational force between sun and earth is given as

F_g' = \frac{r_1^2}{(2r_1)^2}F_g

F_g' = \frac{1}{4}F_g
