When a practitioner (dr, nurse, or medical personell) take the time to explain the procedure or process of what is going to happen- it helps the person understand what's going on with his or her body.  It shows respect for the patient in turn the patient will start to trust the practitioner.  Showing respect and empathy to patients is very important because many people have fear of medical professionals.  Letting the patient know what will happen helps build trust.

Target heart rate is generally expressed as a percentage (usually between 50 percent and 85 percent) of your maximum safe heart rate. The maximum rate is based on your age, as subtracted from 220. So for a 50-year-old, maximum heart rate is 220 minus 50, or 170 beats per minute.
