The answer is actually B. No one stood up for her

The main point of the song is to show how racist we were as a country. Dylan focuses on the fact the killer wasn't given a sentence at all, the night of the murder he was released from custody because he was rich, and then in trial was only given 6-months rather than an actual sentence. Hattie Carroll wasn't even considered really.
