Hello, so I attempted to clone a cabbage by cutting the stem into 3 pieces, planting them in separate pots, and letting them gro

w. As a result the top part of the stem grew the most (had lots of leaves and long roots). The middle part had some leaves but not that as many as the top stem part. The bottom part didn’t have any leaves but had some roots.
I was wondering if someone could explain these results. Do they have something to do with the Xylem or Phloem? Or the meristems? Or even the photosynthetic processe of the plant (More leaves=More photosynthesis)?

Thank you

Answer:

It is due to more meristems present there.

Explanation:

Meristem tissue can be described as the undifferentiated cells of the plant which have the capacity for cell division and convert into different parts of the plant.

The growth is the most at the apical meristems. At the shoot tips, there will be more meristems as compared to the other parts of the plant. This is the reason that the top part of the stem will grow the most.

Degger [83]

Adhesion depends on binding between specific molecules on both the host and pathogen so that the pathogen can gain a stable foothold on host tissues.

What is adhesion?

In epidemiology, adhesion makes reference to the process in which pathogen and host interact during an infection.

The adhesion process is fundamental to reach the survival of the pathogen during a particular infection.

These pathogens can be any type of microorganism able to cause harm to the host (e.g., bacteria and fungi).
