I THINK.
The girls, Joanna and Mary Jane, have treated Huck very nicely, which is the reason why he decides to steal the gold back from the Duke and the King and give it back to them. He didn't want to swindle those kind girls any longer, which is why he wanted to help them rather than conceal those two criminals.
<u>Peter Van Daan’s Motivations/ Actions:</u>
Peter Van Daan is one of the character from the novel ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank which depicts the story of the young girl Anne Frank and her family who went into hiding for two years. The story illustrates the horrors of war.
Peter is the son of Van Daan and he is shown as a loner who isn’t quite optimistic and who doesn’t trust of have faith in anything. Anne tries to bring the other side of him, but she realizes that Peter has an inferiority complex.
He mostly acts to benefit himself and he don’t really bother to impress anyone. Peter isn’t really a bold or courageous person, neither in words nor in actions.

Even though the speech is described from the narrator's perspective, we have to focus on the words, not on the narrator's attitude. With all the strictness and seriousness, all the people on the scene tried to show the importance of appealing to facts and of being pragmatic, meaning that only if kids followed this way of learning they would succeed.</span>
