Answer:

a) Khaled's backyard at his old house is 10 yards by 22 yards. You can interpret 10 by 22 as:

width (w) = 10 yards

and height (h) = 22 yards

OR

length (l) = 22 yards

width (w) = 10 yards

Generally, length are longer than width.

Thus, this is a problem of a rectangle. To find the area of the backyard at his old house. We know,

 • Area of a rectangle = l × w

= 22 × 10

= 210 yards sq.

sq. is an abbreviation of squared.

From the second measurement 15 yards by 15 yards we know that, length and width are similar for the backyard at his current house. Therefore,

To find the area of the backyard at his current house. We know:

length (a) = 15 yards

Area of a square = a^2 or a × a

= 15^2 or 15 × 15

= 225 yards sq.

sq. is an abbreviation of squared.

b) By definition perimeter is length of all sides that encloses an object.

Here, Khaled has 4 sides.

Therefore, Perimeter of his old backyard= 2l + 2w

= 2 × 10 + 2× 22

= 20 + 44

= 64 yards

And Perimeter of his current backyard = 4l

= 4 × 15

= 60 yards

c) Khaled's current backyard has more area than his old backyard, thus, Khaled's kids has more room in current backyard to play in.

d)Khaled's current backyard has a perimeter of 60 yards and his old backyard has a perimeter of 64 yards. Because his old backyard needs to cover 4 extra yards than his current backyard. Khaled's old backyard will need more fences to enclose.

Find the y-intercept of the rational function.
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

(0, -2)

Step-by-step explanation:

The y-intercept is where the graph crosses the y-axis when x = 0. As shown in the graph, when x = 0, y = -2, so your answer is (0, -2).

Anni [7]
Answer:

Set up an equation equal to 180o

Explanation:

3x+3x+6x=180

12x=180

x=18012=15

So, the measure of the angles are:

A mouse climbs up a well of 86 meters. It advances 14 meters during the night, but during the day it retreats 2. The mouse will
Deffense [45]

Step-by-step explanation:

we assume day and night are equally long.

and the mouse will start at night of day 1.

then, on day 2, it will first retreat 2 meters (during daylight) and then advance 14 meters (at night).

so, on every full day, the mouse will effectively advance 12 meters (-2 + 14 = 12).

with a starting value of 14 (the first night).

so, we are getting an arithmetic sequence

an = an-1 + c

c = 12 in our case.

a1 = 14

a2 = a1 + 12 = 14+12 = 26

a3 = a2 + 12 = a1 + 12 + 12 = 14 + 2×12 = 38

an = a1 + (n-1)×12 = 14 + 12(n-1)

at what n will it reach 86 ?

86 = 14 + 12(n-1) = 14 + 12n - 12 = 2 + 12n

84 = 12n

n = 7

so, on the 7th day the mouse will reach the surface (if we truly count the first starting night day 1 - this is up to your teacher, but I would).
