England had been trading India since around 1600, however it didn't start to catch vast areas of land until 1757, after the Battle of Plassey. This fight set 3,000 officers of the British East India Company against the 5,000-in number armed force of the youthful Nawab of Bengal, Siraj ud Daulah, and his French East India Company partners.  

The East India Company exchanged cotton, silk, tea, and opium. Following the Battle of Plassey, it worked as the military specialist in developing segments of India too.  

By 1770, substantial Company tax assessment and different approaches had left a large number of Bengalis devastated. While British officers and dealers made their fortunes, the Indians starved. Somewhere in the range of 1770 and 1773, around 10 million individuals (33% of the populace) kicked the bucket of starvation in Bengal.  

As of now, Indians were additionally banished from holding high office in their own territory. The British thought of them as inalienably degenerate and dishonest.
