The equation to represent the number of weeks Lewis needs to work in order to purchase the rings is as follows, y=20x+80. y is the cost of the ring, 20 is how much he gets, x, weeks. 80 is the initial value, the money he already has. Using the equation we can plug y with 260, 260=20x+80. To solve this equation you subtract 80 from each side, 260-80=20x+80-80 which simplified is 180=20x. Then you divide 20 into each side to isolate the variable. 180/20=20x/20 which simplified is 9=x. The answer is, "It will take 9 weeks for Lewis to purchase the ring."

Answer:

110.5 yd²

Step-by-step explanation:

Separate the figure into 1 triangle and 3 rectangles.

(see attached image)

Area 1

Area of a triangle = 1/2 × base × height

                             = 1/2 × (7 + 2 + 2) × 7

                             = 1/2 × 11 × 7

                             = 38.5 yd²

Area 2

Area of a rectangle = width × length

                                 = 3 × (5 + 2 + 2)

                                 = 3 × 9

                                 = 27 yd²

Area 3

Area of a rectangle = width × length

                                 = 5 × (5 + 2)

                                 = 5 × 7

                                 = 35 yd²

Area 4

Area of a rectangle = width × length

                                 = 2 × 5

                                 = 10 yd²

Total Area

Area 1 + Area 2 + Area 3 + Area 2 = 38.5 + 27 + 35 + 10

                                                        = 110.5 yd²

What is 4/5 ( + ) 1/2 + ( 3/4)
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Answer:

41/20

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify the following:

4/5 + 1/2 + 3/4

Hint: | Put the fractions in 4/5 + 1/2 + 3/4 over a common denominator.

Put 4/5 + 1/2 + 3/4 over the common denominator 20. 4/5 + 1/2 + 3/4 = (4×4)/20 + 10/20 + (5×3)/20:

(4×4)/20 + 10/20 + (5×3)/20

Hint: | Multiply 4 and 4 together.

4×4 = 16:

16/20 + 10/20 + (5×3)/20

Hint: | Multiply 5 and 3 together.

5×3 = 15:

16/20 + 10/20 + 15/20

Hint: | Add the fractions over a common denominator to a single fraction.

16/20 + 10/20 + 15/20 = (16 + 10 + 15)/20:

(16 + 10 + 15)/20

Hint: | Evaluate 16 + 10 + 15 using long addition.
