The Oglala Sioux warrior was Red Cloud. He was one of the most important leaders of the Oglala Lakota. Native American forces killed an entire 81-man detachment in a battle called the Fetterman Massacre. Following this incident, the Treaty of Fort Laramie was forged and the U.S. government consented to relinquish its forts and to leave the Lakota territory.
