The covenant between God and Abraham was the first one. Circumcision was the sign of the covenant.  

The covenant of Abraham made the Israelites believe they were God’s chosen people. God assures them of Israel, the Promised Homeland if they obey the laws of their faith. This gave the obedient Israelites the courage to survive difficult times.
