Answer:the number of gallons of gas that Mr Lewis's car hold is 12.125 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of gallons of gas that Mr Lewis's car hold.

Mr.Lewis filled up his cars gas tank completely on Monday. Between Monday and Friday, Mr.Lewis's car used up to 6 3/8 gallons of gas. Converting 6 3/8 to improper fraction, it becomes 51/8 gallons of gas.

Amount of gas left would be

x - 51/8

On Saturday, Mr.Lewis adds 4 3/4 gallons of gas to his car gas tank. Converting 4 3/4 to improper fraction, it becomes 19/4 gallons.

Total amount left would be

x - 51/8 + 19/4

After he added more gas to the gas tank, the gas tank contained 10 1/2 gallons of gas. Converting 10 1/2 to improper fraction, it becomes 21/2 gallons. Therefore

x - 51/8 + 19/4 = 21/2

Multiplying both sides of the equation by 8, it becomes

8x - 51 + 38 = 84

8x - 13 = 84

8x = 84 + 13 = 97

x = 97/8 = 12.125

sesenic [268]

Answer:

x=2.7142 y=-2.8571,

Step-by-step explanation:

given 4x-8y=12............(1)

14+2x=-6y

2x+6y=-14..........(2)

from equ (2) multiply by 2

4x+12y=-28............(3)

substruct (1) and (3)

4x-8y-4x-6y=12-(-28)

-14y=40 ,y=\frac{40}{-14}=-2.8571

y=-2.8571 put in equ (1)

4x-8(-2.8571)=12

4x=12-22.857=10.8571

x=\frac{10.8571}{4}

x=2.7142

A Web music store offers two versions of a popular song. The size of the standard version is 2.1 megabytes (MB). The size of the
SashulF [63]

Answer:

There were 440 Standard version of songs downloaded in Web music store.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Total number of songs downloaded = 1310

Total size of the downloaded songs = 4752 MB

Size of standard version of song = 2.1 MB

Size of high quality version of song = 4.4 MB

Solution,

Let the number of standard version  of song be 'x'.

And also let the number of high quality version of song be 'y'.

Now, total number of songs is the sum of total number of standard version  of song and total number of high quality version of song.

On framing the above sentence in equation form, we get;

x+y=1310\ \ \ \ \ equation\ 1

Now, Total size of the downloaded songs is the sum of total number of standard version of song multiplied with size of standard version  of song and total number of high quality version of song multiplied with size of high quality version of song.

On framing the above sentence in equation form, we get;

2.1x+4.4y=4752

Multiplying with 10 on both side, we get;

10(2.1x+4.4y)=4752\times10\\\\21x+44y=47520\ \ \ \ equation\ 2

Now multiplying equation 1 by 21, we get;

21(x+y)=1310\times21`\\\\21x+21y=27510\ \ \ \ equation\ 3

Now subtract equation 3 from equation 2, we get;

(21x+44y)-(21x+21y)=47520-27510\\\\21x+44y-21x-21y=20010\\\\23y=20010\\\\y=\frac{20010}{23}\\\\y=870

On substituting the value of y in equation 1, we get the value of x;

x+y=1310\\\\x+870=1310\\\\x=1310-870=440

Hence There were 440 Standard version of songs downloaded in Web music store.

What is the solution for this system of linear equations?<br> {23x+4=y<br> 4−2x=y
liubo4ka [24]
We can subsitute since
23x+4=y and
4-2x=y
therefor
23x+4=y=4-2x
so
23x+4=4-2x
minus 4 on both sides
23x=-2x
add 2x to both sides
25x=0
divide both sides by... uh oh
I guess x=0

sub
4-2(0)=y
4-0=y
4=y

the solution is (0,4)
