Does anyone know the short story Forbidden clothes
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

n Forbidden Clothes by Jamila Gavin we have the theme of freedom, obedience, conflict, identity, tradition, culture, rebellion, respect, friendship and acceptance. Narrated in the third person by an unnamed narrator the reader realises after reading the story that Gavin may be exploring the theme of freedom. Nasreen feels free when she is with Louise. She is able to dress as she likes and to wear make-up. Something that she is not allowed to do in your own community. She is bound or hindered by tradition yet she wants to rebel against it when she can. In order to feel like a young teenager who has the world at their feet. Instead Nasreen is culturally stifled by her parents and her community. Knowing that by the age of sixteen she will be forced to marry a man that she has never met before and who will expect her to be an obedient housewife. If anything there is a real conflict in Nasreen’s life and she feels guilty about how she is acting. The reader aware that Nasreen feels uncomfortable going against her parents’ wishes. This may be important as despite her rebellion against her community. Nasreen still respects her parents’ traditions and faith.

Find a “Golden Line” in Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”. A golden line is a line that stands out to you as important. It could be
Gala2k [10]
One of the "golden lines" from "Walden" could be: "<span>Let us settle ourselves, and work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition, and delusion, and appearance, that alluvion which covers the globe, through Paris and London, through New York and Boston and Concord, through church and state, through poetry, philosophy and religion, till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we can call </span><span>reality."

This line illustrates the romantic idea of nature as a source of spiritual nourishment. More precisely, nature is here represented as a complete opposite of the civilized and urbanized world, with all of its cultural phenomena. According to Thoreau, we shouldn't be wary of the mud in nature. We should be wary of the real, sticky, burdening mud of civilization, which is so difficult to get rid of. It is the mud of prejudice, opinion, tradition, delusion - everything that the civilized people cling to so ardently.</span>
