Two hot air balloons are flying above a park . One ballon started at a height of 3,000 feet above the ground and is decreasing i

n a height at a rate of 40 feet per minute . The second ballon is rising at a rate of 50 feet per minute after beginning from a height of 1,200 feet above the ground .
Given that h is the height of the balloons after m minutes , determine which system of equations represents this situation .

H = 3000 - 40m (starts at 3000...decreasing at 40 ft per minute
h = 1200 + 50m (starts at 1200...rises 50 ft per minute

Answer:

Option A represented the system of equations.

Step-by-step explanation:

Two hot air balloons are flying above a park.

(1) Balloon (A) at a height 3000 ft. is decreasing in a height at a rate of 40 feet per minute.

If we draw a linear equation to represent the relationship it will be like

y = mx + c where c is y -  intercept or height of the balloon = 3000 ft.

Rate of decrease in height will represent the slope of the balloon

m = (-40)

So the equation will be  y = -40x + 3000

here y is height h and x represent time t.

We can rewrite the equation as  h = 3000 - 40t

(2) Similarly for second balloon slope is the rate of change in height of the balloon = +50 and height of balloon (y-intercept) = 1200 ft.

So equation will be h = 50 m + 1200

Therefore, Option A represented the system of equations.

Does this sum converge: show steps
ehidna [41]

Answer:

Yes

Step-by-step explanation:

\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} e^{-\sqrt{n} } \\\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} (\frac{1}{e})^{\sqrt{n} }

If we say u = √n, then:

\sum_{u=1}^{\infty} (\frac{1}{e})^{u}

This is a geometric series.  Since |1/e| < 1, the series converges.

svp [43]
We know that

1 ft--------> is equals to 12 in
the ramp is 12 inches tall----------> 1 ft tall
<span>A ramp measures------------------>  6 ft long
</span>
<span>applying the Pythagorean theorem
</span>c²=a²+b²
where
c-----> 6 ft long
a----> horizontal distance
b-----> 1 ft tall

a²=c²-b²------> a²=6²-1²-----> a²=35------> a=√35------> a=5.92 ft

the answer is
5.92 ft
