$23 I think because 10% of 20 is 2 so 5% is 1 and add them and it gives you 3 so add that onto the additional price

The verbal phrase "the quotient of 3 more than a number and 5" can be modeled as follows:
kakasveta [241]
When it reads "the quotient of 3 more than a number and 5" it is separated as follows:
"the quotient of [3 more than a number] and [5]"
Therefore Quantity 1 is 3 more than a number and Quantity 2 is 5.

You can replace "a number" with a variable (they want you to use n in this case):
3 more than n
Which is the same as saying: 3 + n

Hope this helps! :)

Simplify. x 5.3 = -1.2
a. -6.5
b. 6.5
c. -7.5
d. 7.5
lorasvet [3.4K]
I will assume a + sign between the x and 5.3:

x+5.3 = -1.2

To get the x alone we need to subtract 5.3 on both sides, like this:
x+5.3-5.3 = -1.2 - 5.3
x = - 6.5

a is the correct answer.
