Identify the foll owing words as either a phrase or a clause.
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

Clause

Explanation:

The main difference between a phrase and a clause is that while the former is a group of related words that does not contain a subject or a verb, a clause is a group of related words containing a subject and a verb. The construction “she danced” has both a subject (the performer of the main action): “she” and a verb: “danced.” Furthermore, this clause is independent because it expresses a complete thought on its own and does not need another clause to make sense.

How does the word choice from "The Third Wish" shape meaning for the reader?
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

Explanation:

Mr Peter rescued a swan while sailing, the rescued swan turned out to be a king and he honored Mr peter by giving gift. He was given three leave and was told to make wishes with leaves individually and that the wish will be granted. He made a wish to have a wife with the first leave and a lady appeared to her but she was never happy she mostly cry and tells him she misses the swan and her sister. Mr peter made his second wish and her wife returned back to the sea where she belongs.

Mr peter's didn't make use of the third leave he rather let it be and he stated that swan should be swan and human be human.

Mr Peter made a choice to let go and this is to say that it is not all the time we have what we desire there are days we need to make some choices so that some things will be. This is also telling the reader that every creature have been made for a particular place and mostly cannot be altered they will always be a desire to go back to where its originated from.

Which three sentences in this excerpt from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Day of Infamy” speech make an emotional appeal by suggesting
sergij07 [2.7K]

1. "Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area." - Here Roosevelt uses the word "surprise offensive" wich emphasizes the innocence of the United States. Thay hadn't done anything to Japan, and were attacked by surprise. And by using the word "undertaken" which states that the japanese took the initiative.

2. "Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us." Here Roosevelt makes sure people don´t forget that this attack was unjustified and very violent. By saying "against us" he wants people to feel angry and to do something against the attackers.

3. "I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastarly attack by Japan on Sunday, December Seventh, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire." By using "unprovoked" he says again that the United States are not guilty from anything but victims of a treachery. At the same time he uses "dastarly" making the japanese responsable from the attack, making them guilty and without any justification.
