"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" is a sermon by Jonathan Edwards. In this sermon, Edwards presents many of the beliefs of Christians in New England during what is called the First Great Awakening.

The sermon has several important themes. One of the most important ones is that justice is perfect, and that God will indeed act on his promises. Edwards states that the wicked should not feel safe at any moment, because God ignores nothing. He knows what everyone has done, and will punish those who acted in a wrong way.

Another theme is that humanity is inherently evil. This follows the doctrine of the original sin. It also means that humans need to fight against their own evil and wickedness constantly, and only through repentance and the path of God can they achieve salvation.
