5-2(4a+1)+3a=13

A= 2/3
A= -2
A= -6/5
A=2
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

                   a = -2

Simplifying 5 + -2(4a + 1) + 3a = 13 Reorder the terms: 5 + -2(1 + 4a) + 3a = 13 5 + (1 * -2 + 4a * -2) + 3a = 13 5 + (-2 + -8a) + 3a = 13 Combine like terms: 5 + -2 = 3 3 + -8a + 3a = 13 Combine like terms: -8a + 3a = -5a 3 + -5a = 13 Solving 3 + -5a = 13 Solving for variable 'a'. Move all terms containing a to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-3' to each side of the equation. 3 + -3 + -5a = 13 + -3 Combine like terms: 3 + -3 = 0 0 + -5a = 13 + -3 -5a = 13 + -3 Combine like terms: 13 + -3 = 10 -5a = 10 Divide each side by '-5'. a = -2

80 points! Look at pic attached. I will mark brainiest if you explain your reasoning good. Random answers will be reported.
gregori [183]

Answer: No, your friend is not correct. You cannot use a similarity transformation to turn a square into a rectangle. Here's why:

1) If you used a similarity transformation, the size and position of the shape would change, but the shape itself remains the same.

2) Squares and rectangles are NOT similar.* Referring to the first point I listed, if the shapes are not similar, then a similarity transformation cannot be used to turn one shape into another.

*Similar means that the edges are proportional to one another, such as a square with sides of 4 meters vs a square with sides of 2 meters: the sides are different lengths, but the shape is the same.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to comment below if you need any clarification. Have a good day, and good luck on your assignment. :)

If D is the midpoint of EG, find the length of EG
Brrunno [24]

ED = x - 5 given

DG = 4x - 38 given

ED = DG definition of midpoint

x - 5 = 4x - 38 substitution

-5 = 3x - 38 subtraction property of equality (subtracted x from both sides)

33 = 3x addition property of equality (added 38 to both sides)

11 = x division property of equality (divided 3 from both sides)

ED = x - 5 → ED = 11 - 5 → ED = 6 substitution

since ED = DG, then DG = 6 transitive property

ED + DG = EG segment addition property

6 + 6 = EG substitution

12 = EG simplified like terms
