Answer:

Athletic is the major part of the ancient Greek history. According to the history the most important athletic competition was inaugurated in 776 BC. There were multiple games events were held in Greece but in it the  most important one was Olympic Games which was held in Olympia in honor of Zeus. Before starting the games people sacrifice different things like wine, grains and lambs to Zeus.

Athletes were mostly from the rich family, so they can afford the protein rich diet like grain and meat other than fruits bread and vegetables. So, they had to eat a lot to maintain their fitness and health.

Every athlete and Greek young boy went to gymnasium for the exercise and body work as it was important to maintain the body and take part individually in games to take respect and honor for the region where these athletes live. People of Greece think that their love for athletic differentiate them from non- Greeks, and only they allowed taking part in the games. Body building and exercising was essential on daily basis for the athletes who were going to compete in Olympic Games.

The athletes who won the match was crowned with wrath of wild olive which was picked from the sacred tree from the temple of olive.

People gave so much respect of the winners because they think due to the athlete they got chance to honor Zeus. People made statues of the famous athletes, write congratulating poems. Their victories made them immortals. People of Greece worshiped them who won the games. Greek loves them so much and winners can not dishonor the love because if they did they got punished.
