Specialized molecules called hemoglobin bind to oxygen and deliver it to the body cells via?
Vinvika [58]

Specialized molecules called hemoglobin bind to oxygen and deliver it to the body cells via red blood cells (RBCs).

Erythrocytes or Red blood cells contain hemoglobin a protein that contains iron and transports oxygen throughout the body.

Red blood cells are small in size (7-8 μm in diameter) and have a biconcave structure. Mature RBCs lack a nucleus to make space for hemoglobin protein.

A single erythrocyte contains about 250 million cells of hemoglobin and a single hemoglobin protein can bind up to four molecules of oxygen which means that a single erythrocyte can carry up to a billion oxygen molecules.
