Well we know that 1 centimeter = 50 miles, so 2 centimeters = 100 miles. Now we have to find what 0.4 centimeters equals. To do this we must find 40% of 50.
We simply multiply 0.4 and 50 to get our answer.
0.4 × 50 = 20. So we add 20 to 100.
20 + 100 = 120
So 2.4 centimeters = 120 miles.
Hope I helped!

A 6-yard piece of ribbon costs $36.72. What is the price per foot?
djyliett [7]

Answer:

$2.04

Step-by-step explanation:

Note that: 1 yard = 3 feet.

First, change the amount of yard (6) to feet:

6 x 3 = 18

6 yard = 18 feet.

Note: 18 feet = $36.72

Find the cost per foot (1 feet). Note the equal sign, what you do to one side, you do to the other. Divide 18 from both sides.

(18 ft)/18 = ($36.72)/18

1 ft = 36.72/18

1 ft = 2.04/1

1 ft = $2.04

What is the sequence of second differences for ax +b?
MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

ZERO

Step-by-step explanation

Write the given function as

F(x) = ax + b

i.e Y = ax + b

now differentiate Y with respect to X

dY/dX = d (ax + b)/ dx

dY/dX = a

now again differentiate this function with respect to x

so,  d^2Y/dX^2 = d^2 (a)/dX^2

                         = 0 (ZERO)

note: differentiation of constant function is zero

Write an equation in point-slope form for the line that has a slope of 4/5 and contains the point (−5, −3).
ankoles [38]

y = mx + b, where m = slope, and b = y-intercept.

Since you are not given the y-intercept, you have to solve for it through the equation, y = (4/5)x (which is the slope you are given) + b, and replace x and y with values given, which are (-5,-3)

y = (4/5)x + b

-3 = (4/5)(-5) + b

-3 = -4 + b

1 = b

Then replace b in the first equation to get the answer

y = (4/5)x + 1
