Well we know that 1 centimeter = 50 miles, so 2 centimeters = 100 miles. Now we have to find what 0.4 centimeters equals. To do this we must find 40% of 50.
We simply multiply 0.4 and 50 to get our answer.
0.4 × 50 = 20. So we add 20 to 100.
20 + 100 = 120
So 2.4 centimeters = 120 miles.
Hope I helped!

Solve for x: 6 over x equals 4 over 8
Talja [164]

Answer:

For the given expression, x = 12.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, in the given expression:

6 over x equals 4 over 8.

Now, 6 over x = \frac{6}{x}

and  4 over 8  =  \frac{4}{8}

So, here  \frac{6}{x}   =\frac{4}{8}\\ \implies x = \frac{6 \times 8}{4}  = 12

⇒ x = 12

Hence, for the given expression, x = 12.

I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zina [86]

Answer:

Yes, x and y have a proportional relationship.

Step-by-step explanation:

A proportional relationship means that, when comparing two quanities, that they are both changing at a constant (same) amount.  When looking at a table to compare quantities, you can see that the pounds of tomatoes 'x' is increasing by one (1) each time.  If you look at the amount spent in dollars 'y', you can see that for each pound (x), the cost is increasing by $4.  So, since for every pound of tomatoes that is purchased increases by $4, then their relationship is proportional.

The maximum value of the function: f(x)= -5 x ^2 +30x-200 is?
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

\displaystyle    - 155

Step-by-step explanation:

we are given a quadratic function

\displaystyle f(x) =  - 5 {x}^{2}  + 30x - 200

we want to figure out the minimum value of the function

to do so we need to figure out the minimum value of x in the case we can consider the following formula:

\displaystyle x _{ \rm  min} =  \frac{ - b}{2a}

the given function is in the standard form i.e

\displaystyle f(x) = a {x}^{2}  + bx + c

so we acquire:

  • b=30
  • a=-5

thus substitute:

\displaystyle x _{ \rm  min} =  \frac{ - 30}{2. - 5}

simplify multiplication:

\displaystyle x _{ \rm  min} =  \frac{ - 30}{ - 10}

simply division:

\displaystyle x _{ \rm  min} =  3

plug in the value of minimum x to the given function:

\displaystyle f (3)=  - 5 {(3)}^{2}  + 30.3 - 200

simplify square:

\displaystyle f (3)=  - 5 {(9)}^{}  + 30.3 - 200

simplify multiplication:

\displaystyle f (3)=  - 45  + 90- 200

simplify:

\displaystyle f (3)=   - 155

hence,

the minimum value of the function is -155
