Rewrite the sentence by correcting the misplaced modifier, squinting modifier, or dangling modifier.
ludmilkaskok [199]

<em>We planned to take a trip to Asia in three years or less.</em>

The modifier "in three years or less" was misplaced.

  • A <u>misplaced modifier</u> is a word or phrase which is separated from the subject it modifies, thus making the sentence syntactically incorrect as well as illogical:<em> I found the </em><u><em>stained</em></u><em> man's hankerchief</em>.
  • A <u>squinting modifier</u> creates ambiguity in a sentence through its placement, by making it unclear which part it modifies (the one that comes before it or the one that comes after it): <em>Combing your hair </em><u><em>softly</em></u><em> detangles it</em>.
  • A <u>dangling modifier</u> gives an information without clearly stating its subject in the sentence. It often consists of "<em>having</em> + past participle" or "<em>being</em> + past participle" constructions, like: <u><em>Being tired after the show</em></u><em>, going straight home was the best plan</em>.

7. What is the setting of the story? How is this setting connected to the Anglo-Saxon people in Britain?
galina1969 [7]

Anglo-Saxons liked to gather in the lord's great hall, to eat and drink, and to listen to songs and stories. They loved tales about brave warriors and their adventures. A favourite story told how Beowulf, a heroic prince, kills the fierce man-eating monster Grendel, and Grendel's equally horrid mother. The story of Beowulf was first written down in the 8th-9th centuries, but long before that the story was told around the fire. The storyteller played music to accompany the songs and poems, on a small harp or on another stringed instrument called a lyre

Ede4ka [16]

The Gods were angry at the humans because, apart from their unacceptable behavior, they would also forget to pray to their names and honour them with sacrifices. That is why Zeus decided to destroy all humankind.

Read the stanza aloud two ways – once with rhythm and once without rhythm.
salantis [7]

When we read the poem with rhythm, we can better appreciate its rhymes and structure, and the beauty of the story also seems to be enhanced, as explained below.

<h3>What is rhythm?</h3>

In poetry, we can think of rhythm just like we do when it comes to music. The number of syllables in each line as well as the rhymes allow us to read the poem with a certain pace, a cadence. That pace is rhythm.

When we read “The Song of Wandering Aengus” without paying attention to rhythm, we can still understand what the poem is about. However, much of its beauty is lost.

When we pay attention to rhythm while reading the poem, we can better appreciate its structure and rhymes. The beauty is enhanced as we "sing" the poem, reading each line in the pace the poet intended them to be read.
