Let's look at an example

x^2 + 6x + 3 = 8

Take the "b" coefficient of the quadratic equation, which is 6 and divide in half and square it.
6/2 = 3
3^2 = 9

9 is what we need to be the constant on the left side not 3. We can add 6 to the 3 to make 9 ... but what ever you do to the left side must also be done to the right side to keep the equation the same. .

think of it in simple terms: 5 = 5
if you add 3 to the left but not the right it is not valid 5+3 does not equal 5 anymore

x^2 + 6x + 3 + 6 = 8 + 6
x^2 + 6x + 9 = 14
( x + 3)^2 = 14

A factory ship the 100 boxes with 15 skateboards in each box and 10 boxes with 15 helmets in each box
netineya [11]

Answer:

150(10s + h)

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to write an expression for the total items they shipped.

Let each skateboard be s.

Let each helmets be h.

The factory ships 100 boxes with 15 skateboards in each box. That is:

100 * (15 * s) = 1500s

The factory ships 10 boxes with 15 helmets in each box. That is:

10 * (15 * h) = 150h

The total number of items shipped is therefore:

1500s + 150h = 150(10s + h)

This expression represents the total number of items shipped.

The length of a rectangular book is 2 times its width. The perimeter of the book is 42 inches. Write a system of
wel

Answer:

Mark me as brainlist

Step-by-step explanation:

P = Perimeter

L = Length

W = Width

Perimeter of rectangle = L + L + W + W

or P = 2L + 2W

You know:

P = 36 inches

L = 2W          [length is(=) 2 times it's width]

W = ?

P = 2L + 2W

Substitute/plug in what you know, plug in 2W for L since L = 2W

36 = 2(2W) + 2W         Simplify

36 = 4W + 2W

36 = 6W        Divide 6 on both sides

6 = W              Now that you know the width, you can find the length:

L = 2W

L = 2(6)

L = 12

L = 12 in

W = 6 in

PROOF

P = 2(12) + 2(6)

P = 24 + 12

P = 36
