Answer:

Explanation:

John Green teaches about the rise of the conservative movement in United States politics. The sixties are often remembered for the liberal changes that the decade brought to America, but lest you forget, Richard Nixon was elected to the presidency during the sixties. The conservative movement didn't start with Nixon though. Modern conservatism really entered mainstream consciousness during the 1964 presidential contest between incumbent president and Kennedy torch-bearer Lyndon B Johnson and Republican senator Barry Goldwater. While Goldwater never even had a shot in the election, he used the campaign to talk about all kinds of conservative ideas. At the same time, several varying groups, including libertarian conservatives and moral conservatives, all began to work together. Goldwater's trailblazing and coalition building would pay off in 1968 when Richard Nixon was elected to the White House, politics changed forever when Nixon resigned over the Watergate scandal. You'll also learn about the ERA, EPA, OSHA, the NTSB, and several other acronyms and initialisms.

Answer:

The lines above are an excerpt belonging to the speech to the US senate delivered by American attorney Henry Clay, speaker of the House of Representatives around the 1830s. The assessment requires to integrate a personal interpretation of such document.

Clay's speech is an example of how conflicts have been solved in the US by compromising since the nation's inception, back to the founding.

Clay was delivering his perspective and opinion on the state of South Carolina’s decision of formally withdrawing from the federal union; he was also proposing solutions to the issue, such as the "Compromise Tariff of 1833" which offered to reduce some percentage on certain tariff rates, in the end, the compromise succeeded and the parties benefitted from it.

Do you think the philosophes were optimistic about the future of humankind? Explain.
Mumz [18]
Generally speaking, yes, many of the early philosophes were optimistic about the future of humankind because they saw in man an individual nature that was separate from that which ties man to the state or polis--meaning that they saw in man an unrestricted ability to achieve any goal.
