The committees of the House of Representative and the Senate

The Congress is granted with the great and arduous task of proposing bills, discussing them and enacting legislation. In order to deal with this, they rely on four types of committees that are essential in the legislative process and which at the same time, divide themselves into sub-committees.
The four types of committee are the following: The permanent committee that has legislative jurisdiction and exists in both the Senate and the House; the joint committee which is in charged with exploring and informing certain issues and is staffed by members of both the House and the Senate, Special committees that are temporary and can only address specific topics and conference committees, which are also temporary, consists of members of both houses and is used to reconcile different bills passed in both the House and the Senate.
