Set this up as a proportion with cement on top and sand on bottom.  Our proportions will look like this then: \frac{1}{3} = \frac{7}{x}.  Cross multiply to get x = 21.  So 21 shovels of sand is needed.

Let x be the amount of cement and y be the amount of sand. If <span>the ratio of cement to sand for mortar is 1:3, then \frac{x}{y} = \frac{1}{3} and y=3x.
</span>
So, if <span>Sandy puts in x=7 shovels of cement, then she puts y=3\cdot 7=21 shovels of sand.

</span><span>Answer: 21 shovels of sand.

What is 1/10 of 1000
Marianna [84]
It is 100. There is many ways to find this answer. One way would be to divide 1000 by 10 to get a 100. Another way is to take the decimal form of 1/10 which is .10 and times it by 1000 to get 100.

select translation, reflection, or rotation to identify the single transformation that tranforms ∆jkl to ∆j'k'l'
Vesnalui [34]

Hello :)

The first one would be a rotation because it was easily rotated upward , it looks like it was rotated maybe 90°, The second one would be translation because it is simply moved upward and moved slightly to the right without be resized, rotated, or anything. The third one would definitely be a reflection because it appears to be flipped across the x axis. The fourth one i'm not really sure but i'm going to guess it is a rotation because it is turned in a different direction from the original figure.

Does the point (-2, 1) satisfy the inequality 6x + y &gt; -11?<br> YES OR NO
natali 33 [55]

No, the given point does not satisfy the inequality

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given inequality is 6x + y > -11

We have to find whether the point (-2, 1) satisfies the inequality

When we subsitute the given point into given inequality, values in both sides of inequality must satisfy the condition

Let us substitute the given point (x, y) = (-2, 1) in given inequality

6(-2) + 1 > -11

-12 + 1 > -11

-11 > -11 which is not true, Since -11 is equal to -11

So the given point does not satisfy the inequality

I would say 64 if they are in a straight line since both sides have 6x8 and 2x8 you can add those to get 8x8=64
