The newly-discovered organism Yawle nhoj, has a diploid chromosome number of 56. Suppose that one of the chromosome pairs fails

Answer:

The correct answer will be 2 gametes with 29 chromosomes and 2 gametes with 27 chromosomes will be formed.

Explanation:

Meiosis is a type of cell division which produces four daughter cells. Chromosomes separate or the disjunction of chromosomes takes place during anaphase I and anaphase II of meiosis I and II respectively.

If a chromosome fails to disjoin at meiosis I this will result in the production of four gametes with an unequal number of chromosomes. Out of four gametes, 2 gametes produced will be trisomic gametes that are with one additional copy of chromosome and 2 gametes will be monosomic with one less number of chromosome.  It means the trisomic gametes will have 29 chromosomes while 2 monosomic gametes will have 27 chromosomes.

Thus, 2 gametes with 29 chromosomes and 2 gametes with 27 chromosomes will be formed is the correct answer.

Which process produces human egg and sperm cells?
Novay_Z [31]
Gametogenesis, the production of sperm and eggs, involves the process of meiosis. During meiosis, two nuclear divisions separate the paired chromosomes in the nucleus and then separate the chromatids that were made during an earlier stage of the cell's life cycle.

Which three of the following entities are acellular?.
arsen [322]

Answer:

Prions archea, viroids bacteria, viruses protists are acellular while fungi is cellular.

While viruses have indeed been closely researched for more than a century for infections of people and animals, most viruses, particularly those that infect microorganisms, are still poorly understood.

Pathogenic RNA molecules are known as viroids. Contagious protein particles are identified as prions. Viruses are larger than that of viroids. Viroids are larger than prions in size.

Molds, wild yeasts, as well as mushrooms are examples of fungi. Numerous fungi are multicellular and also have nuclei in their cells. A protein-encased DNA or RNA core defines viruses being non - cellular organisms. Some scientists disagree with the notion that viruses are living things.
