Why is the vertical cross section along a tectonically active region of the coast so steep

Geography

Answer:

Tectonically active regions of the coast, are so steep because they also have frequent earthquakes and/or volcanic activity.

Volcanic activities lead to the eruption of molten magma. Given its high viscousity, it flows very slowly along the vertical sections of the volcano/topography and as it cools leaves even a more vertical section of solidified igneous rocks.

What is the biggest barrier to the use of renewable energy in the United States?
dimaraw [331]

Answer: I think Limited transmission capacity to deliver the energy to the consumer is the correct answer.

Explanation: Renewable resources are not necessarily limited as the sun always shines and the wind always blows. Citizens are pushing for renewable energy sources that will not destroy our planet. Reliability and consistency could be an option but again, the wind and sun are always present. This leaves you with limited transmission capacity to deliver the energy to the consumer which seems like the most probable barrier due to the fact that the entire energy sector would have to be rethought and machinery would have to be bought. Renewable energy technology is also very new and expensive which naturally makes it limited.

Hope this helps! :)

Question 4 1 pts The decomposition of rocks is a natural process which creates nutrients where plants begin to grow. This would
Ksju [112]

Answer:

Option (2)

Explanation:

Lithosphere refers to all the portions on earth where life exists. In simple words, the lithosphere is the layer that is comprised of the crust and a small portion of the upper mantle. Here the rocks are solid in nature.

Biosphere refers to the region that includes the land surfaces, hydrosphere as well as the atmosphere in which life exists and interacts. It occurs both above and below the earth's surface.

The rocks are disintegrated by both physical and chemical processes. These rocks when they are broken apart into smaller particles, then these sediments or rock particles are deposited in the soil that provides the necessary materials for the plants to grow.

Thus, the two spheres with which it interacts are the lithosphere and the biosphere.

Hence, the correct answer is option (2).

Which phrases describe a plateau? Check all that apply. Low relief low elevation surface cut by streams rounded or sharp peaks s
brilliants [131]

The statement that describes plateau is that the plateaus are a surface that are sharp peaks with steep slopes on at least one side. So, the correct option is C.

Plateaus are a part of one of the major land forms of the Earth that are a form of rough and non-uniform surfaces formed due to formation of sedimentary rocks.

Plateaus

 • Plateaus are formed due to the magma that is present inside the Earth which is applied through an effort to push through the surface of the Earth, but during this entire process they fail to enter and pass through the crust.

 • Plateaus may also be made, which cause the volcanic eruptions in the Earth after the lava is busted. There are several types of plateaus that are formed in different regions due to conditions of such region.

 • The four types of plateaus that are present on Earth's surface are Continental plateaus, Volcanic plateaus, Inter-montane plateaus and Piedmont plateaus.

 • The continental plateaus are said to be formed to separate each continent from the other. So there are about 6 continental plateaus on Earth. Volcanic plateaus cause eruptions in the form of lava.

Hence, the correct option is C that the plateaus are formed as the sharp peaks with steep slopes on at least one side of such surface.
