Divine right of kings theory is a doctrine that posits that the right of the monarch to rule comes directly from God. It is related to the Declaration of Independence which was opposed to such a notion due to the oppression by King George which led them to declare that they had individual liberties which ought to be respected as they are also natural and inalienable
