The decomposition of CCl4 is as follows:

CCl4 (g) ---> C(s) + 2Cl2 (g)                 Kp = 0.76

where Kp = (PCl2)^2 / (P_CCl4)

P_C is zero since carbon is in solid form.

Express P_CCl4 in terms of P_Cl2

0.76 = (P_Cl2)^2 / (P_CCl4)

0.76P_CCl4 = (P_Cl2)^2

Ptotal = P_Cl2 = 1.9 atm

Solve for P_CCl4

P_CCl4 = 4.75 atm<span />

frosja888 [35]

<u>Answer:</u> The given reaction is non-spontaneous in nature.

<u>Explanation:</u>

Entropy change is defined as the difference in entropy of all the product and the reactants each multiplied with their respective number of moles.

The equation used to calculate entropy change is of a reaction is:

\Delta S^o_{rxn}=\sum [n\times \Delta S^o_{(product)}]-\sum [n\times \Delta S^o_{(reactant)}]

For the given chemical reaction:

3Mg(s)+Cr_2O_3(s)\rightarrow 3MgO(s)+2Cr(s)

The equation for the entropy change of the above reaction is:

\Delta S^o_{rxn}=[(3\times \Delta S^o_{(MgO(s))})+(2\times \Delta S^o_{(Cr(s))})]-[(3\times \Delta S^o_{(Mg(s))})+(1\times \Delta S^o_{(Cr_2O_3(s))})]

We are given:

\Delta S^o_{(Mg(s))}=32.68J/K.mol\\\Delta S^o_{(Cr_2O_3(s))}=81.2J/K.mol\\\Delta S^o_{(MgO(s))}=26.94J/K.mol\\\Delta S^o_{(Cr(s))}=23.77J/K.mol

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\Delta S^o_{rxn}=[(3\times (26.94))+(2\times (23.77))]-[(3\times (32.68))+(1\times (81.2))]\\\\\Delta S^o_{rxn}=-50.88J/K=-0.0509kJ/K.mol

For the reaction to be spontaneous, the Gibbs free energy of the reaction must come out to be negative.

To calculate the standard Gibbs free energy of the reaction, we use the equation:

\Delta G^o=\Delta H^o-T\Delta S^o

where,

\Delta G^o = standard Gibbs free energy = ?

\Delta H^o = standard enthalpy change of the reaction = 665.1 kJ/mol

T = Temperature = 298.15 K

\Delta S^o = standard entropy change of the reaction = -0.0509 kJ/K.mol

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\Delta G^o=(665.1kJ/mol)-(298.15K\times (-0.0509kJ/K.mol))=680.27kJ/mol

As, the Gibbs free energy of the reaction is coming out to be positive, the reaction is non-spontaneous in nature.

Hence, the given reaction is non-spontaneous in nature.

When acetic acid reacts with ammonia, NH3, the reaction yields ________.
mezya [45]

Answer:

Acetamide

Explanation:

The reaction can be expressed as:

CH₃COOH + NH₃ → CH₃CONH₂ + H₂O

It's worth mentioning that this reaction would have a better yield if we use an appropiate catalyst such as DCC, in order to prevent an acid-base reaction and instead have the previous <em>amidation</em> reaction.

TEA [102]

Answer:

AgNO3 + KI → Agl + KNO3. Double-replacement reaction

Explanation:

Based on solubility rules, Silver, Ag produce an insoluble salt in presence of halides (Fluorides F-, Chlorides Cl-, Iodides, I-, and bromides Br-). That means the mixture of AgNO3 (Ag⁺ ions) with KI (I- ions) produce AgI as insoluble salt.

The reaction is:

<h3>AgNO3 + KI → Agl + KNO3</h3><h3 />

And this is a double-replacement reaction where the cations exchange of anion to produce 2 new compounds.

Sholpan [36]

Answer:

The correct option is;

(B) 1 s², 2s², 2p⁶, 3s², 3p³

Explanation:

The electron configuration is the outline of the electron arrangement about a nucleus

In the systemic pattern of electron arrangement within an atom, there are, s, p, d, f orbitals

The maximum number of electrons in an s, p and d orbital = 2, 6, and 10 respectively

Based on Aufbau's principle the electrons are arranged based on the order of their energy level

The charge is presented by the number of electrons in the outermost shell, an element able to form an ion of charge of -3 will gain 3 electrons to complete its outermost shell

Among the options given, option B is the only option that has the capacity to take the electrons to complete the number of electrons in the p orbital outermost shell to 6 from 3, that is 3p³ + 3e⁻→ 3p⁶.
