Marine and coastal degradation is produced by the growing pressure on both terrestrial and marine natural resources, and on the use of the oceans to collect garbage. This issue is happening mainly in Northwestern Europe, where it has been aggravated to a great extent due to overfishing, agriculture, pollution, tourism, industrial chemicals and coastal development.
